In the context of the Business Seminar “How to set up a business in Australia”, Polyglot’s Director Gerald Bot held a presentation on Human Resources, Recruitment and Payroll.


During the AOG in Perth, Australia’s largest Oil & Gas exhibition, The FACCI (French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Ubifrance (French Trade Commission in Australia), Awex (Walloon Export Association) and FIT (Flanders Investment & Trade) joined forces and organised  a seminar on “How to set up a business in Australia”, which took place on Friday February 21st at the Ernst & Young offices in Perth CBD.

Gerald Bot shared Polyglot’s 18 years of best practices and experience in Recruitment, HR and Payroll, taking into account the intercultural aspects and implications when setting up operations in Australia, focusing highly on the most important asset in a company: its people.

Other legal and tax aspects of setting up a business in Australia were raised by Baker & McKenzie and Ernst & Young, emphasising Australian specificities to consider or mistakes to avoid when opening a subsidiary in Australia (contracts vs. legislation, company incorporation vs. branch, etc.).

During his presentation, Gerald Bot stressed the fact that it is very important to comply with current Australian HR and Payroll regulations and that implementing the right hiring strategy and employees’ support in terms of relocation, cross-cultural training, language tutoring, etc. can make a real difference in success when setting up a new operation or expanding locally or overseas.
